“I Will Change the World by…”
I look forward to seeing you at Sunday’s Fall Gratitude Festival! One of the highlights for me is going to be seeing our students’ PTA Reflections entries on display. This year’s theme was “I will Change the World by…”, and we had 36 entries this year! I can’t wait to see our students’ displays, using different forms of artistic expression to show us how they plan to change the world!
English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) being formed at Flora Vista!
An ELAC is composed of parents and/or community members. The purpose is to advise the principal and school staff on programs and services for English learners, and the School Site Council (SSC) on the development of the School Plan for Student Achievement. Please email me at Chris.Juarez@eusd.net if you are interested in participating (four meetings during the year - via Zoom at first, then hoping we can meet in person later in the year).
Tomorrow is the next Principal’s Chat! Please find the Zoom info and opportunity to submit questions HERE. (Reminder, Chats alternate monthly with the PTA General Association meetings. The next PTA meeting is Dec. 2, next Principal Chat Jan. 13.)
Lastly, it is official… Carol Giallombardo, for years the face of Flora Vista, has retired from Flora Vista and the Encinitas Union School District. For many years, Carol brought her helpful, positive nature to the daily interactions of a school secretary. Whether it be reassuring nervous new students and families, providing a communication bridge between parents and teachers, serving as half of the vaunted “Joyce and Carol” long-time dynamic duo, or countless other tasks, Carol brought a BIG heart to our school community, and she will be missed! She will be moving to Tennessee. (Families may drop off any cards in the front office.
With such big shoes to fill, we are fortunate to be able to announce that Marisela Norris has been hired permanently as the new Flora Vista School Services Secretary, half of the new dream team of Kristy and Marisela for the next generation of our students, families, and staff.
In Gratitude,
Principal Juarez
